cause they don't want to see the sharks that are waiting for them.

The #1 Way to find stuff out is TRY IT AND SEE FOR YOURSELF! You will IMMEDIATELY LEARN. DIANETICS AXIOMS 121-122. L. Ron Hubbard 121. Every Thought has been preceded by Physical Action. 122. The Mind does with Thought as it has done with entitles in the Physical Universe. I have never scuba dived- someone let me use their visor a few times. If you smacked your face ONTO water, you could SMASH THE GLASS in your eyes. It could be weakened, if not overtly cracked and break at depth. That is not funny. You could DISLODGE the mask and let in water- THAT IS NO FUN. You could dislodge the tank. You could do anything you like and get away with it, because you were using particularly robust equipment. But this is a BAD HABIT established, and one day you are going to get weak mask, faceplate, or harness, and do as you always did, and DISASTER! The back of the body withstands the shock and does not damage anything. Safety First.

Something about the pressure of the mask if you go in head first, and the oxygen, snorkle tank.
I'm not sure why, for techincal reasons.
That's just my guess.
It's not to look cool, I know that.
I snorkled once, and I was like 7, and I didn't want
to fall in, head first, so I went head first, and I got a lot of pressure on my eyes and goggles.

Because if they fell forward, they would land in the boat.
Seriously though, it pushes the airtank down their back so it doesnt move up against the diver's head. (head first)
Also, the facemask would be pushed against the nosebridge and possibly rip down the face if they fell frontwards. Falling backwards prevents more force pushing down on the mask

I would think because it's the least disruptive way to enter the water with the gear they carry.

its just happens, they just sit down for a quick second and the tank is so heavy they just fall in (jk)
but really its so the mask doesn't hurt your face.

It's so the mask will stay on and won't snap them in their beautiful little face.
