she has a very dark gravid spot but a not so large belly. Is she pregnant?

If you have a male with her, yes most definately, the gestation period of livebearers is about 28 days
Livebearers can give birth for up to 6 months, that's how long they can store the sperm, even without a male after they give birth the first time

Yes, If it is dark and towards the end. It will get larger. Make sure you have somewhere for the babies to hide if you have other fish, they will eat them. We took pieces of clothes tore into strips and tied a string to the end of them and hung the and cloth strips in the tank on the inside then the babies were able to live and hide till they got big enough, which took forever.
