What the park owner said was just a bunch of ill-informed nonsense. You can't get HIV from swimming in the same pool as someo one with HIV.

Some people are just plain mean.
If you watch TV,
or read,
anyone with half a brain would know that you cannot catch aids from swimming in the same pool with an HIV positive anyone.
My heart goes out to that poor child and his family. Life has already dealt the child a terrible blow and now he has to live with this same sort of mentality for the rest of his short life.

It's not just a pool and no they shouldn't just get over it. Yes, he is HIV positive so................should they put him in a zoo behinds bars so everyone can point and snicker at him. Cause heaven forbid if he should touch someone, cause you know that's how AIDS and HIV is spread right??? Touching someone, saying hello...perhaps smiling at someone! Oh the thought!!!!
I think all of you ignorant idiots need to take a mandatory HIV education class and get your facts straight! Even though most of you are so closed minded and so f*u*c*k*i*n*g ignorant I still pray none of your familes or loved ones are ever infected with this horrible disease! Cause I can only imagine how you would treat them! Something to think about!

I feel sorry for the baby, but anything can happen especially with a kid involved. I do understand that he's only in the pool but there is still so much to learn about HIV and if he gets hurt while he's there would anyone(lifeguard) attend to him, maybe/maybe not. So as much as I really do feel sorry for the child, you do have to worry about others.

that's a bunch of bull pucky me!@
People are soo ignorant to the facts so they show their ignorance every day. You can't contract aids if you swim with someone. There are a lot of what if's in the world... WHat if he get's a cut... That's just pain dumb... What if a woman who had HIV is menstrating and get's in the pool how'd you know you didn't contract it then? You're in a public pool. It's another form of discrimination to me and dumb people need to get educated!
Maybe it's for the best my butt...

People are totally ignorant about HIV and AIDs. You should know that by now. They banned Ryan White from groceries in his area when he was HIV positive because supposedly he spit on produce. How stupid is that?

I think it's messed up too. I'm sure they think they were protecting the other kids but they cannot catch HIV from swimming in the same pool.

I agree with you. It is a whole load of B.S. And the kid only had a life expectancy of seven years! It literally wouldn't of killed the person to let the toddler swim. Some people are just so insensitive.

How long can the HIV virus last in a pool of 50% water, 50% urine?
Its rural Alabama, odds are it had less to do with Aids then that the kid was black.

I think there is very little to worry about. Although children have very bad hygiene. And, they aren't always potty trained. So, although HIV is not a real concern. A more contagious disease would be.
