I'm changing my last name when I turn 18...mostly because I hate it, I hate my dad, and I don't want to be connected to that name. Would you ever change your name?

i was going to change my last name for the exact same reason....i hate my entire family on my dad's side and my dad....they aren't nice people at all. but i don't think i ever will, because im just so used to this name and i thnk it would feel strange to suddenly be someone else and have a different name then the one you've had since you were born.....but thats just how i feel about it:)

Would I ever change it? Yes. Am I thinking of changing it? No. I could understand you wanting to change it based on not wanting to be connected to your father.
On the other hand though, you could look at it as, you are going to make the name 'your own'. Do something you are proud of so in the future when you or someone close to you thinks of your last name, they don't think of your father, they think of you.

NO! I am PROUD of my Name -- Honorable and Fair. Unusual, not common, and ... most importantly .. I am so GLAD that I NEVER changed it ... mainly because I HATE it STILL that I get UNSOLICITED Mail addressed to Mrs (Ex-es last name) when that low-life, abusive, nasty, violent sociopath from a short disaster of a marriage took so much from me in the first place!

I would change my first name cause I would prefer many others (except I'll probably be too lazy to do actually do it). And my last name... "Cee" ... people pronounce it different ways which isn't all that great.. But I doubt I'd change it. Too much work!

No. I hate my dad so much i wouldnt give a rats poo if he died in front of me, but i figure why change my name if i'm always going to be related to him in SOME way.

Oh no, I'd never change my last name.
It's way too unique and no one has it,
I'm for sure, no one does.
I'm sorry that you have to change it, but
it sounds like it would be for the best,
for you anyways. Although when I'm getting
married, hopefully, I'll change it.
