What kind of car are you doint this on.
Some do not have filters that need replacing.
Some you have to remove the pan to do a change, some have drain plugs

a transmission filter. you should go to a parts store tell them your make, they will get the filter for you. to install it, drain the transmission, then pull the pan that is at the bottom of the transmission and the filter is right there, jus remember to replace the gasket as well, usually a gasket is included with the new filter.

transmission filter. depending on the car it should be in the trans pan. few but very few of them are external
