I know that if you travelled faster than the speed of light that time would considerably slow down would it be possible to take a deep space trip and come back a little after you had left? Travelling at the speed of light? If doing said thing was possible

No. The time compression effects work in just the opposite of the way you're thinking.

When a spaceship travels at near light speed, much MORE time passes back on Earth than does for the people on board the spaceship. When you got back to Earth, 1 year might have passed for you on the ship, but 100 years might have passed on Earth.

A mathematician named Dwight
Could travel much faster than light
He took off one day
In a relative way
And returned on the previous night!

I first read this tale 40 years ago!
(I have more faith in physics than in limericks.)

No. It's impossible no matter what anyone says. It is posible, however, to leave at, say, noon, Jul 10, 2000, and come back noon, jul 10, 3000, even though it's only been a few years for you.
