You might have cystitis. I had that a couple of weeks ago, it hurt for a few days when I peed - like at the start and finish I got a sharp, aching pain, REALLY bad. It didn't burn. But after three days of hurting I started to get blood in my urine, and I saw a doctor.
Definitely see a doctor. You'll probably get a five day course of antibiotics and it clears up no problem, it only gets bad if you leave it.
In the meantime drink LOTS. Have a bottle of water with you all the time. Juice is okay, but tea and coffee can make it worse. And drink loads while you're on medication, and until the pain goes away.

It may very well be that you have a urinary tract infection. Bacteria travels up the urethra and it can be very painful upon urination. More severe cases can cause blood in the urine as well. This is easily treated with antibiotics. See your doctor immediately as if untreated, can spread to your kidneys.
This can be caused by various reasons (best discussed with your doctor). If you find that you have recurring events of this, Cran-Actin is a good supplement, without the calories of Cranberry Juice.
There is also a condition called IC - Interstitial Cystitis, which mimcs uriniary tract infections, but the culture does not grow any bacteria. In this case, Cranberry juice, etc. is the *worst* thing you can do, as it causes irritation.

It's Urinary Tract Infection. Go make an appointment with a doctor now so they can give you antibiotics to fight it off. Until then, drink lots of cranberry juice, and breathable underwear. Tomorrow, if you start seeing a little pink when you urinate, it's definately UTI (the pink is a little blood). Expect frequent trips to the bathroom later because you're not able to relieve yourself fully. You need antibiotics asap, and be sure to finish the full prescription even if you think you're done healing.

you are getting a bladder infection get in touch with a doctor so he can test your urine to make sure you don't have blood in the urine, and then he'll put you on an antiaboliic. Make sure you eat yogurt cuz you don't want to get a yeast infection too. and drink cranberry juice, it cleans out the acid in your urine. Good Luck you'll feel better in a few days. I had a bladder infection before it's no fun, very annoying.

Could be a urinary tract infection (UTI) If you go to your doctor he can prescribe and antibiotic or AZO makes a UTI formula, NOT the regular cranberry but a formula just for UTI. Ask the pharmacist for it. It works wonders.

You probably have a urinary infection and need a urine culture done. It's also possible that you're hurting from sex that was a bit intense. If you've been bike riding or horseback riding, you may experience painful urination. At any rate, see a doctor.
