A friend who says he/she will meet you somewhere and doesn't bother showing up or calling to let you know.
or
A politician who cheats on his family and claims it's a private matter. Do you trust your vote to a person who promises to help you, yet can't keep his word to his own family?
How do you deal with a person like this?

I'm referring to people who continually give their word and don't keep it, not an occasional lapse.

I was taught that a person is only as good as their word.

A man's word is his honour.
If he cannot keep his word then you are dealing with a man that has to be taken with a grain of salt.
The answer to your question would be no. Actions speak louder than words, and if the actions of one says " I will not keep my word"? Then you know what to expect when they speak.
You can trust them not to keep their word.

1)First question all depends on the circumstances, I would says if the person has legitimate excuse, then it doesn't necessarily mean that you should not trust the person. On the other hand if there is no legitimate excuse, I would have to say the person isn't much of a friend.
2)Any kind of figure that is supposed to be a representative for us the people then they lose the right to have a personal life during their term of service to us. I would have to say if they do not like that idea, then they obviously have something to hide and I would not trust them as far as I could throw them.
3)Now as far as dealing with this, use your better judgment, do not beat yourself up if you make a mistake or you will never find the honest people out there, and remember there are plenty of grease bags out there. I would dwell on it too long make the decision, and get on with your life. I have to say life is too short. And I believe you only live once.

You can't change the way people are, if their behavior bothers you that bad stay away from them, if it's no biggie don't sweat it, I personally don't associate with such persons, and I sure wouldn't vote for someone like that!

hmmm.. this is all very circumstantial... i mean things can happen to keep people from calling you or meeting you or something like that.... it just matter if it continuously happens... then you need to be careful how much you trust that person

as for the politician thing.... i wouldn't trust him... but then again, as i said before, things happen... but just be cautious...

"Can you trust someone who gives you their word then doesn't keep it?"

hmmmm........

If it's your mom/dad and they promised ice cream once but didn't come through - generally, you can trust them

If it's your friend who didn't call meet/call once, and you are BFF, generally, you can trust them.

If the politician you speak of is neither family nor friend, I don't think I would trust him under any circumstances...........vote wisely....lol
