It's from the LP Catholic Boy by the The Jim Carroll band.
One of my favorite tunes.

Jim Carroll band "people who died" from his catholic boy cd. he wrote the book "basketball diaries" which was made into a movie years later. pretty much all of the people mentioned in the song are from the book /movie. all real people. great song, great author, great poet.
