There's tons to do in Chicago, in fact it's one of the country's top vacation destinations. Here are some ideas for fun things to do.
NAVY PIER
Located on Lake Michigan, just East of Chicago's Downtown, Navy Pier has been a Chicago landmark since it first opened in 1916. It now showcases a unique collection of restaurants, shops and plenty of entertainment. At Navy Pier you'll find the Chicago Children's Museum, an IMAX theater, Crystal Gardens (an indoor botanical park), the
Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows.
For outdoor fun, Navy Pier has a permanent 150-foot-high Ferris wheel, a musical carousel, an old-fashioned swing ride, an 18-hole miniature golf course and the Skyline Stage outdoor performance pavilion
CHICAGO SEARS TOWER
Best view of Chicago from one of the world's tallest buildings. Adults
(12yrs-64yrs) $9.95, Seniors (65+) $7.95, Children (3-11) $6.95, Children under 3 free. Prices do not include admissions tax. Call for group rates. Hours: May- Sep. 10 am- 10 pm; Oct.- Apr. 10 am- 8 pm. Last ticker sold 30 minutes prior to closing.

FIELD MUSEUM
Discover Sue, the largest and most complete T. rex ever found! At The Field Museum, you can get a bug's-eye view in Underground Adventure, descend into an Egyptian tomb, watch a glowing lava flow, be dazzled by sparkling gems, come nose-to-nose with the man-eating lions of Tsavo, and learn about the worlds cultures and environments. Daily
9am-5pm. Adults $12, students & seniors $7, children (4-11) $7. Some exhibits require additional ticket.

I grew up in chicago for 8 years of my life and I agree w/ you 100%. that city is absolutley gorgeous and now that my family and I have moved down south I beg my parents everyday to move back up there.
But there are a lot of great things to do there. Navy Pier is one of the best attractions, they have all kinds of stuff to do, and if you just want a nice, peaceful time, a stroll along lake michigan might do good as well.
have fun!
