1. The Bach family of 17th and 18th Century Germany has to be the greatest musical family of all time. It spanned several generations of greatness involving dozens of well-known composers and musicians.

2. Insofar as recording artists, Bing and Bob Crosby have probably outsold all other families. Although Bing was by far the more famous, Bob was a bandleader of renown for many years and sold many records.

3. The Mills Brothers lasted in the recording industry for over 50 years and still drew big crowds in Vegas when then were in their late 70's. No one has touched that longevity record.

4. The Jacksons are probably the undisputed "Family of Pop." Despite their various troubles, they have managed to keep in going, if not often, for quite some time.

5. The BeeGees were a genuine 70's phenomena. Saturday Night Fever was huge in popular music and the brothers sold a ton of records.

The TV families and the Cowsills were good, but didn't have tremendous lasting power.

Number one is The Trapp Family, from which the Sound of Music was based on.
Well there is the Jackson Five. But, because of the odd ball Michael I have a hard time putting them in the top five.
As I sit here thinking, how about The Everley Brothers. That's three so far. There were The Nelson's. Ozzie, Harriet and Rick. Ozzie was a big band leader and Ricky a singer. Now one more, hmm. Gladys Knight and The Pips. They were all blood related. That's five. Oh there were better ones, but I can't think of them right now.

The Partridge Family were not blood related. David Cassidy and Shirley Jones were the only 2 real singers and she was his step-mom, no blood relative...
