Hi guys
I bought corals today and forgot to ask what to do before putting them into my tank
I know for a fact that I can put them into my tropical tank, as well that I have to watch my ph levels more closely now because they cause them to go up
I just want to know if I'm suppose to wash them with cold or warm water before I put them into my tank, or if I even have to leave them in a waterbath over night (no soap will ever be used)
Every answer is greatly apprecciated
Thanks
EB

Fake corals for a freshwater tank are no problem at all, just wash them off with hot water and your good to go. No problem with them making your pH go up either, that's for real coral. The fake corals made for freshwater tanks are made of materials that will not affect your pH.

This question is really confusing. You said you bought corals for a tropical tank. This usually means that your tank is freshwater. Assuming your tank is marine, and you bought live corals, you need to put them straight into the tank. If you bought fake corals, wash in regular water, no soap, and then let dry. They will be fine then assuming they didn't get dropped in a vat of oil or something ridiculous.

if its fake just wash it with water and put it in.
you dont need to go all out for fake coral. but if it is coral that used to be live and has been dryed out youll need to soak it for a awhile before you put it in.
also if it is dryed coral that used to be alive and you put it in a fresh water tank you will have a problem.
