Skip ... I hate to hear stuff like this and I am so sorry you are going through this. It's one thing that he actually had the affair ... but the fact that he was still hanging out acting like you were his best bud is actually pushing the envelope toward "sicko bastard". I first thought you might be kidding when you asked if you were wrong to be rid of him ... in my opinion he's lucky he still has his balls!! He isn't and never was your brother.True "brother's" would NEVER stab someone they supposedly loved and cared about for almost TWO decades in the back like that. What he did is the LOWEST form of low (and I'm bettin' he was in your wedding, huh?).

Although your wife is just as much to blame ... I am glad to see you have a healthy attitude about the realization that she is the mother of your child and you are going to need to be civil to her for the sake of your son. Love your son enough to stick to that ... and in the end you really will win.

There is no way you will ever be able to justify this "friend" ruining you marriage and family enough to keep him around (every time you see him you'll be reminded - it's bad enough that will happen with your ex). Be done ... period. Move on. Believe me time really does heal all wounds ~ at least enough to help you to move forward and to be happy again.

Of course, you'll miss this guy ... he was a huge part of your life for most of it ... but in no way does that excuse what he did. Why on earth would you want to keep someone around who you know you will NEVER be able to trust again? Makes no sense whatsoever. Just feel sorry for him ~ that's about all he deserves from you. And let a lesson be learned on his end because maybe you'll save someone else this kind of pain in the future. I wish you the best of luck Skip! Be strong and remember that real men are tough, honest, loyal and have integrity. This are all qualities you EX-best friend is seriously lacking.

Peace to you ...

I think you responded the way most of us would. I know from experience that feelings change. You hate him now, but in 20 years you may feel different. Maybe by then it will just be a serious dislike.

you did the right thing...he was never really your friend to begin with and instead of being upset or sad over losing his friendship mourn the fact that you were lied to basically for a really long time...i'm so sorry to hear about the whole situation and i hope everything works out for you.

Well, my wife left with my best friend and really miss him.

I suppose in your shoes, you could always wait til he gets a girl and and go after her.. that would make things equal for both your friend and your wife.

YOU DID ABSOLUTELY THE RIGHT THING. NEVER INVITE PEOPLE TO DISRESPECT YOU A SECOND TIME AND THEY BOTH GET THE BOOT BECAUSE THEY BOTH DON'T LOVE YOU MUCH AND ARE EQUALLY RESPONSIBLE. GOOD FOR YOU. HOPE YOU FIND SOMEONE TO LOVE YOU AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF.
