RKO got it right all the way.
The Iraq War has been nothing but a costly failure.
Already it has become more expensive than Vietnam,not to
mention the loss of lives. All to force American-type democracy in a region of the world where America is
universally hated and reviled as the Great Satan,and of course to gain control of the oil fields. It was a huge blunder
to go there,and sooner or later U.S. troops will have to leave.

I wish politicians would figure out that a retreat from Iraq will just mean more deaths of Iraqis.
If we leave, terrorists all over the world will see that a superpower has been brought to its knees by a few car bombs and IEDs...the terrorists will feel invincible...and the world will be at a much greater risk than ever before.

I will deal with such a pull-out of troops as more honorable than what put our soldiers there in the first place. This 'war' is not - and never has been - about bringing democracy to Iraq, establishing peace in the Middle East, or defending our own country from attack.
From the very first day George W. Bush and Dick Cheney took office, they intended to attack Iraq for three very lame reasons:
1. The Bush family has had a personal vendetta against Hussein ever since the days of Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was criticized, ridiculed, and humiliated for 'not finishing the job' and ousting Hussein at that time;
2. Cheney wanted all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so he and his Exxon-Mobil buddies could get richer and richer and richer feeding America's addiction to easy-accessible, cheap foreign OIL;
3. Ever since World War II, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex has realized the profitability of war. So all the politicians were bought up, pricey lobbyists were hired, and special interest groups were formed to promote and encourage more 'war'.
We've been in this insane, illegal, immoral 'war' for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING, and our soldiers shouldn't have to die for such crass and shallow purpose.
This is not about maintaining our 'freedom' - it's all about a) expanding the INFLUENCE of the Bush dynasty;
b) satisfying the GREED of corporate America;
c) Establishing America's POWER base in Iraq;
d) providing fresh PROFITS for two new government contractors, the Carlyle Group and Halliburton, both of whom have direct ties to the Bush-Cheney White House.

I will deal with it the way I dealt with the end of our involvement with Vietnam. I will remember that we don't have unlimited powers as a nation, that when we get into another country's affairs we always will have to leave while the currrent residents will stay, and that the sacrifice of those who served should not be forgotten.

It's going to happen by next spring anyways. We don't have enough troops to keep the troop level. Next spring is so called 'broken army' deadline.
Now lot of people know that. That's why more people are starting to call for withdrawal. Because they know we'll have to start major withdrawal by next spring. This is not by choice. We simply ran out of troops to do this job.
Unless they're willing to call for draft they shouldn't be talking about 'stay the course.' Because this ain't no magic. It takes boots on the ground to do the job. You can't magically create soldiers out of thin air. They're humans. They get tired, sick, injured. We just don't have enough of them to go beyond next spring. They barely managed this 'surge' by asking troops to skip vacations, go on tour longer, cutting short stay at home, deploy sooner...etc.
We're probably not going to achieve anything close to 'victory'. It's not the troops' fault they miscalculated initial troop level, they ignored signs of insurgency, made horrible decisions that increased secretarian tensions. It is Bush's war, but at the end people will blame anti war liberals for the failure. Which doesn't make sense at all. Just like the war itself.
I probably won't do anything special when we pull out. Not too many of us sacrificed anything in this war anyways. We drive our cars, we do whatever we do while troops die in Iraq. Bush never asked civilian citizens to make real sacrifice. He ask us to pray a lot. I assume he's ok with my inaction.

never should have invaded a sovereign nation.
Why did we go in. To depose and kill Saddam Husein, mission accomplished. To force democracy on people is no democracy at all. A Democracy of Tyrants, for US and for them. not a good start.
