kind of sad when fans don't remember and/or recognize a guy who hit over 500 HRs (and that without the aid of steroids) and was by far one of the best to ever play at his position.

in fact, if he wasn't hurt all the time it likely wouldn't be Aaron that Barroid is chasing

#44 is for Willie McCovey. His # is retired and the cove named for him. But also of importance, the Giants award a player each yr w/the Willie Mac Award. Given to the player that most exemplifies the spirit, dedication and sportsmanship of the man.

The Giants are honoring one of their greatest players tonight in Giants history, Willie McCovey. #44 is Willie's number. Also they named McCovey Cove after him.
