My money would be on his people to persuade Israel to lead NATO in to an engineered conflagration before he gets kicked out. Iran is far too big a country for the US to take on w. out the countries in NATO that know how to finish wars absolute support and guidance.
Your outline is far too organized for (spokesman Bush) of the people w. the real power behind the scenes to follow but if he were led through it one step at a time...

Yes, it could happen. I hope it doesn't.....
But as far as the declaration of Martial Law, that's based on an Executive Directive, and the Executive Branch doesn't have the authority to suspend Congress without the consent of Congress.
Similarly, given how the public currently feels about Bush (his approval is in the mid 20%s, Cheney is in the teens), the American public wouldn't go along with a suspension of the elections. And I doubt most states and local govts would refuse to hold the elections just because Bush said so.
Besides, with such a huge percentage of our National Guard (which is nominally controlled by the states anyway) overseas, who would enforce such an Executive Order? I doubt most military commanders would willingly enforce an order demanding no elections.

I think Israel will attack Iran, with our approval and support. Bush no longer has the political clout to launch an attack, and a Democrat president will just roll over and allow Iran to build nuclear weapons. Israel will most likely launch air strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities and that will be it.
All this hooey about Bush declaring martial law & remaining president forever is just that - paranoid, tinfoil- hat HOOEY. They were saying the same thing about Clinton, as I recall.

230 years of Supreme Court precedent gives the Executive near-dictatorial control of National-defense policy. He can't "declare war" but he can start one. If nukes are heading our way, we will be annihilated with impunity if Congress has to vote to approve a counter-attack.
Your question is unrealistic, but to be fair, back in 2000, right-wing conspiracy kooks were predicting Billary would do just what you suggest.

Well, there is a possibility he could attack Iran, and I'm not saying Ahmadinejad doesn't deserve it, but the consequences would be very bad. So in a sense you are right, its a possibility, but then why have we reopened diplomatic ties with them after years of silence?
And martial law, please. You're forgetting the soldiers who would enforce this are husbands, wives, sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, etc. They know its wrong, and will not enforce it for very long if at all, desertion reprimands be danged.

If we bomb Iran it will be the most tragic mistake in the history of this planet. All of the war hawks who are eager to bomb Iran really haven't thought it through. It will be a disaster.

Why do that when Congress has already authorized him to go after terrorist and those that support them. There is plenty of proof that the Iranians are a state sponser of terrorism. That's all he needs to make a military strike on Iran.
Personally I think we should use nukes as an example to other would be terrorist supporters. We need to make supporting terrorist an ill bargan.

I think there are a lot of worse things that could happen than that. I think that would be rather mild compared to the horrendous destruction of life and all the other things that can possibly go wrong.
