That's a very broad statement, and often not accurate.

There is some statistical correlation between burglaries and drug use, just as there is some statistical correlation between most crimes and drug use.

But, assuming your premise, it's because drug addiction requires money, and of the criminal methods to get money, the two most commonly used are robbery (theft from a person) and burglarly (theft from a building).
