There's an affordable but unsafe looking apartment I want to rent. Where can I find crime reports on it?

In larger cities, you can usually either go to the County Sherrif's website, or contact the dept, as Prime indicated in his answer above, a "crime map".

In most medium size communities (where I live) they publish all felonly activity weekly in the Sunday paper and have different jurisdictions mapped off by a number, according to where you live; however, they list the block number where the incident occurred and what occured. Usually, you can find the stats online at the newspapers website.

If it is a smaller community, contacting your would-be neighbors and asking them is probably the best option.

Depending on the locale, the website for the local police department may have a crime map. A crime map lets you type in the adress and pick a date or a range of dates and it will list the reported crimes w/ithin a predetermined range 1, 2 miles etc.

YOU CAN TALK TO THE LOCAL POLICE IN THE AREA WHO WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA ON HOW MANY CALLS THEY GET ABOUT THE COMPLEX. THEY'RE NORMALLY VERY GOOD AT THAT. BEING THAT MOST OF THE WORST CRIMES HAPPEN WHEN THE NORMAL PEOPLE ARE SLEEPING, THEY'RE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO'LL GIVE YOU THE RIGHT INFO. YOU CAN ALSO TALK TO CAB DRIVERS IN THE AREA SINCE THEY'RE OUT AT ODD HOURS OF THE NIGHTS, THEY'LL KNOW ABOUT THE COMPLEX. BECAUSE IF IT'S BAD, THEY'LL NORMALLY NOT SERVICE IT AT NIGHT. THOSE WOULD BE YOUR BEST OPTIONS SINCE MANAGEMENT WILL NEVER DISCLOSE THAT TO YOU. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS GETTING YOU IN AND HAVE YOU FIND OUT THE HARD WAY.
