I do! Because in crisis, clever minds come up with clever ideas and create clever solutions to deal with crisis.

It's not necessary cleverness that is born. Any crisis requires action. To act on anything requires some level of creativity to think of a solution. Some solutions to a crisis happen to be clever. Others prove to be disasterous. A better quote would be that "cleverness is born from necessity."

As in 'Necessity is the Mother of Invention' ? One would hope that to be the case. I think it's certainly a stimulating factor... but I also think there are many times that crisis over-rides the ability to think clearly and cleverness is stranded at the wayside.
