I'm 3 days over-due. and I went to my doctors appt. today and I am 2cm dilated .. and my doctor said he was going to call the ER and schedule me for an induction (because my baby is measuring 43 weeks and my blood pressure is a little high) and when he called the ER they said they are booked until the middle of next week .. and couldn't get me in! My doctor wasn't too happy with them .. and ended up kinda arguing with them on the phone and told my husband and I that he'd call us when he gets a date for the induction .. and meanwhile .. I don't have any follow-up appts. in his office (just waiting to hear the date of induction). So, here I am in the dark .. just playing the waiting game. But, basically he incinuated that since I'm at 2cm if I were to have contractions and go to the ER .. they wouldn't send me home .. they would induce me!
Has anyone ever gotten induced with patocin only being 2cm dilated????
I'm definitely getting the epidural too!
It's my first baby.

When I went in for my scheduled induction I was only 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. If you're ready to go you're body will start going with it no matter what cm you're dilated. GOOD LUCK!!!

I was 2 days overdue and I was 3cm when I got to the hospital. I wasn't having any contractions but my water had broken. They induced me at 11:30, started feeling contractions around 12:15. They checked me around 1:15 and I was 4 cm, so I asked for the epidural. The anesthesiolgist got there around 2. They checked me around 2:30 and I was 10cm. I dilated really quick and they were pretty surprised.
Some people say being induced is awful, I don't know any other way, but I hope all my deliveries are just as easy!
Good luck and don't worry too much. I would say if nothing happens tonight call the doctor to see when they want a follow up!

I was induced with pitocin for 2 of my labors. The first one took about 6 hrs to start things (@ 41 weeks, 0 cms dilated) up and the 2nd time took about 5 hrs (39 weeks, 5 cms dilated). But once labor starts, it starts "NOW". So be prepared, if you are getting induced with pitocin I recommend that you get the epidural ASAP (as soon as you start feeling uncomfortable and if you aren't too dilated). Thats what I did and I'm glad I did it that way. I just found out I'm pregnant with #5 and I already have it planned lol ! Good luck to you.

I was induced when I was at 3 cm and 90% effaced. Pitocin was started at 7 am and I was having hard contractions every 2 mins by 8 am. If you were to go in with contractions at this point they would probably begin an induction, especially if you want it.

When I received patocin, I wasn't even dialated and I was a week overdue. My doctor sent me to the hospital at 6 in the morning and they started the patocin and I didnt have my son until 10 oclock at night because the nurse wasnt doing the patocin right. If you want the epidural get it early on when you are having contraction because they hurt like hell. Congrats on the baby.

i was 2 cm dilated and they started pitocin at about 10 am, i didn't have contractions until 3 pm, delivered at 4 pm that day

My first pregnancy I wasn;t it took couple of hours to kick in. With my second one I was 2 cm and 2 days over due. My water broke and was leaking so I went to the hospital. It took me in hour since I was in labor. I was beginning of labor when I got to the hospital. They use the medicine to induce alot of pregnant woman. you be fine. you can have sex and that would get you in labor

I was induced with pitocin and cervadil at less than 1cm dilated at 37 weeks.
