Normal? Yuppers. I was sure I was gonna die before 25. Didn't happen. Then I KNEW I was gonna die by age 35. Never happened. Now I'm 50 and going, "PLEASE DON'T TELL ME I HAVE TO LIVE TO BE 80!!!!" Weird how that works. The point is ... live each day the best you can because ... you just never know.

I don't know what a therapist would say about it being "normal", but as you see, it is quite common. Many people who've had that fatalistic view about their own existence have lived to a ripe old age, though, so I wouldn't dwell too much on it, lest it become a self-fulfilling prophecy. (and I can relate... for a long time I felt like that, too.. hasn't happened yet... and I'm slowly but surely edging away from the "young" category.)
Soooooo.. Live your life! enjoy it! go out dancing at clubs in whatever part of town you hip young people congregate, meet some fun people.. party like it's 1999.. or something like that. ( Note: I am not advocating or encouraging drinking, drug use, or anything else objectionable.. simply having fun)
Cuz if you're going to die young, now's the time to stop worrying and start enjoying your life to the fullest. Don't put that off. If you're not going to die young, think of all the memories you'll grow old with.. rather than always wishing you'd not spent so much time fretting.

No, but some times yes. You need to feel more positive about life, and YOUR life in particular. Perhaps at this time you feel you have no direction or drive for a future that you feel is undefined. A lot of people feel like that much older than you are, but younger people that have not "found themselves" can be even more susceptible to this trap. As silly and as dated as it seems sometimes (within the realm of good judgement) all you need to do is go with the flow, gain that bit more of experience that tells your inner you where you want to go in life. Everybody dies. At 21 when it's not necessary just some "feeling" is not enough to even think about. Get out there. Find out for yourself there is a lot to live for. Unless you come from an underprivileged country, or are suffering from an untreatable terminal illness, you are very privileged. Don't waste what so many others NEVER even have the opportunity to choose, especially based on a "feeling". All the best, and God Bless..

I can most definitely relate to you.. I have really lucid dreams and very strong gut feelings about life and the situations I am in sometimes. I truly believe a soul/person has some sense as to when or how they could die.. I'm no expert, it may be a psychological issue *but I'm not putting you down for it* -- It depends on you and your situation, are you under a lot of stress? If you'd like to talk more, feel free to e-mail me. I could say more but I don't want to make people think I'm crazy lol.

I think everyone has that sort of fear, especially when they are young or may have a disease. Sometimes I get that way, and I'm only 17. I guess it's pretty normal for humans to have these and other different fears, but it's not ok if you become close minded, and think that something terrible will happen to you especially when you can be/are healthy. The best thing i do, when i become nervous or tense about this, i pray, and rely on my family & boyfriend. I suggest you at least find counseling or find daily activities to do, to keep your mind, or your gut feeling away. & remember, you, and only you can call negativity among yourself, so think positive and your mind and body will become better as well.
Good Luck.

Yes it s normal I think it is something to do with accepting and acknowledging the reality of mortality. When we are younger we feel life will last forever, but as we approach our teens-twenties we start to understand that one day we will die. This feeling of almost sudden realization lends itself to a sort of shock feeling. Because we have lived a life without ever contemplating death as an actuality and now we feel it as a true fact we think it must be imminent.
But it is just because our physiological self reacts in defense to all new emotions in preperation for their conclusion.
It would be as though you had never felt hunger until you were 16 then suddenly it impacted you and you had a terrible realization that you needed to eat or you will suffer. You would start to think that unless you eat soon you will die of starvation.

I used to feel that way when I was your age and younger, but now I'm 32 and feel like i have a long way to go. I guess back then I used to party an go to bars and smoke and do some fairly reckless things. Almost like followng the saying "Live fast, die young, and leave a prety corpse." But now i hope my corpse is old and wrinkled when i leave this world. Hope this helped

When I was 15, I told a friend I was going to be in a near fatal car accident. She didn't think much of it, but I had this strong feeling something bad was going to happen. Nearly six months later, one week after I got my driver's license (one week to the day), I was with three of my friends for a drive. I don't have any memory of the wreck itself, but what I was told was that as the car was rolling side over side I grabbed the arm rest close to the door handle (to brace myself maybe) and accidentally opened it. We were in one of those cars with the automatic shoulderbelts that unrestrain the occupant when the door opens, my lap belt buckle was broken somehow, and after flying out, the car itself rolled over me. I spent a miraculous month and half stay in the hospital, and nearly two years of therapy thereafter. Yes, I believe we have the ability to "know" these things.

yeah, I feel like I'm going to die before I'm 20, and I don't really know why, I just think I have to live the most while I can, because you never really know when you are going to die, and life is too short, but I really feel like I will die before I'm 20...I wonder if it's just mental-or if we will really die young, well I hope you live a long long long happy life
