It has to do with the idea of reflected light versus generated light or transmitted light.
Pigments look the color they do because they reflect that color predominantly. That means that they absorb much more of the other colors of light. So, for example, red pigment appears red because it absorbs much of the blue, green, yellow wavelengths of light. Pigments are examples of subtractive colors. If you take all the pigments and mix them together you basically make black or dark gray.
Light, itself, however, is additive. When you add various colors you get closer to white light. If you add them all together then you get white. So these are called additive colors.

I think it is because light reflects off of something and makes the color that it reflects,
I think the primary colors are Magenta, Cyan, I cant remember the last one maybe black

i think of that is because of the fact gentle reflects off of something and makes the colour that it reflects, i think of the commonly used hues are Magenta, Cyan, I cant bear in mind the final one perchance black
