We HAVE to win. A sudden withdrawl would equate with a loss and world humiliation will be the very least of our problems. The power vacuum that would ensue in the region will cause a chaos that could actually begin WW3. These days will seem peaceful compared to what we could see coming from Iraq.
Don't like $3/gallon gas, see how you like $9/gallon or more. The entire world economy would stifle very quickly.

When the Iraqis show a little control is not the time to withdraw, that plan already failed once in this war.

Additional comment: This past friday there was an assasination attempt on Pakistani President Musharraf. Let's not forget that Paskistan has nuclear weapons. If we do not defeat the terrorists now, they won't have to develop nuclear weapons, they can just kill off the leader of a country that already has them and viola, instantly the world is held hostage.
I hope with all my might that the democrats in office who are merely using the unpopularity of war only to further their political gain do not get the opportunity to allow the war against terrorism in Iraq to become armageddon.

TO: superpolitics how can you not call anyone who demands social welfare not un-patriotic. It would be as if our brave troops returning from this global war on terrorism would say/demand "you owe us" it will never happen. That is not why our soldiers voluntarily enlisted, but Our Commander in Chief does have an obligation to look after His Young Soldiers when they have stopped fighting this global war on terrorism.

Yes, they understand. They also understand that too many lives have been lost in this war and there is not a clear cut path to win the war!

Reform movements are an ever-present worry for both parties’ bosses, because any successful reform put forward by regular citizens and insurgents in Congress tends to excite the electorate with the possibility of actually controlling their own government. The ruling class well understands that as the engagement of the citizenry waxes, their own power wanes. And it is war and the threat of war that provide the best excuse for not passing social-welfare legislation, and calling anyone who demands it “unpatriotic.

Yeah, and if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his butt on the ground when he jumps.
Nice try, but that is hardly the relevant point now, is it? Of course everyone wants to win, that is hardly an epiphany.
