If you are going to go swimming you HAVE to wear a tampon. A pad won't work. It will just soak up all the water and you will end up bleeding in the pool. Water does not stop a period. Either use tampons or tell your friend that you can't go swimming.

Lets think about what you said. Use a PAD in the POOL. FYI, the pad will soak up more than just blood, its like a diaper, therefore it will soak up the pool water before you are in the pool for five seconds.
If you are on your period you MUST wear a tampon.
Heck, you can wear tampons during your very first menstrual cycle. Just go out and get the slenderest plastic applicator tampon and give it a few tries. Read the instructions carefully and relax.
But do NOT go in the water without a tampon! You will bleed into the pool, which is very unsanitary and nasty.

Your period may be over by Thursday if you started 2 days ago. Tell your friend you don't know if you can go or not yet. If it isn't done by Thursday, you can just hang out by the pool and get some sun. Don't wear a pad in the pool and don't go swimming, especially in a public pool, if you're still bleeding, as this is an infection risk for others.

No, don't wear a pad!! And you can use a tampon at any age, but sometimes they can be uncomfortable. I am 30 and still don't like them! But there is a product called Instead. It is a small cup-like thing that you put up inside you. Sounds strange, I know. But it works really well, especially if your period is not really heavy, which yours probably isn't since you haven't had it long. And you can buy them at most any drugstore, like CVS or Walgreens. I would go ahead and get them and try them out before that day, though, because it does take a few tries to figure out exactly how it works. Check out the site below for more info.

Uh, you would have to wear a tampon dear if you plan on getting in the water at all. Otherwise your pad will just get soaked and fall apart and you will bleeding into the water which is just nasty. They have tampons made specially for young girls, just make sure you follow the directions and you can take it out as soon as you are done swimming. Plus you will save yourself the embaressment of a pad floating around in the water or worse. Make sure that your string isn't showing too.

no pads in the pool!!! you will only have embarrasing results. Just stay out of the pool till you are ready to wear a tampon. I started when i was 16. I don't know how old you are, but maybe that will give you a guideline.

Unless you are willing to use a tampon, you will have to sit out the pool party. You cannot use a pad in the pool, it will soak up the water and make a terrible mess.

ABSOLUTLY DO NOT WEAR A PAD!!!! That would be extremely unsanitary. Sorry hon but your going to have this problem for a LONG time, I know tampons sound wayy scary but honestly they are not that bad. Don't listen to all the crazy things people say ohh they hurt soo bad, you can't use one untill you have sex...etc. Try talking to your mom see what she thinks, I know a little uncomfortable but you cannot go swimming in a pad.
P.S.
I suggest using Tampax Pearl the first time.

Do not wear a pad! It blows up like a balloon. You have only two choices, 1. Suck it up and try a tampon (its rreally not bad) or 2. Don't swim. I would go with the tampon.
