well... rare has many definition; rare can mean "infrequent" such as "finding a one hundred dollar bill is rare"
then again, rare can mean "precious" like "a rare jewel"
so if you want "infrequent" then synonyms are "limited, seldom, occasional", and so on.
"precious" are: priceless, unique, etc
you can use thesaurus.com for these =D
