if you were defining premeditation in a criminal statue, would you say it is enough that the dee followed instantly upon the intention? defend your answer

By definition, no the deed cannot follow instantly upon forming the attention. Premeditation requires meditation (consideration) before (pre) the deed.

The general standard in most jurisdictions is that the person must have had the opportunity to reconsider the formation of the intent. This may be a few seconds or a few minutes, but it cannot be "instantly after".
