My brother is in jail in Louisiana but he is going to be extradited to Texas (Harris county) in the next 30 days. How long before he goes before a judge? And does the Texas thing have to be finished before he goes to court in Louisiana?

Sounds like the charges in TX are far more than what he's facing in LA - extraditions involve the governor's office of both states and the Federal Marshals who transport prisoners between states. He will appear before a judge within 30 days for an extradition hearing unless he waives extradition and will be sent back to TX when Federal Marshals become available.

If Texas is bringing charges, he'll be in custody (unless he gets bail) for most a year while those criminal proceedings are resolved. Then, even if he is acquitted in Texas, he goes back to Louisiana if they want to press charges for whatever he was arrested for there.

he's in a state where they have no speedy trial dates. sorry for him, I've been in similar types of trouble.
so it 's all time that will go on his time served.
