if ur on the move just get a wireless card from a cell phone carrier, they have either 3g card (att, tmobile) or ev-do (verizon, sprint). both are a little slower than braodband, but much faster than dial-up which is what 1xrtt or edge is.

yea, and make sure that your notebook has a built-in wifi device & modem. but for wifi, i think the built-in wifi device is enough. most notebooks now are included with that. so, i think you don't have to worry much. just find a place that offers free wifi and sit there. most airports now offer these free wifi services, too!

Go to airports and use a free wifi access or a train station. Your laptop requires a wireless card (if the laptop does not have wireless).

generally speaking, most small businesses use wifi now-a-days, and can usually be found within 25 meters of any small shop such as an estate agents (my favourite free sources), Lawyers' offices, heck even tesco is using it now!
Sevral Long Distance trains (50+ miles) have services for wifim unfortunatley its not free and quite expensive to the average student on his low-budget, alot of coffee-shops, internet cafe's and business places have it for free, so take advantage of it, and even when you cant, you'll a;ways have the classic 56k connection through a mobile phone (you'll get a big bill at the end of the month, but meh, as long as you dont get bored who cares?)

Most coffee shops have free wifi, as well as some bars & restaurants. Starbucks, however, uses Tmobile hotspots, which means that you have to pay - Starbucks sucks anyway.

Many public places offer free internet access.. Starbucks and truck stops along the freeway are a few examples. Just walk in and click your internet explore icon and you should have no problem accessing the internet.
