This was about 15 years ago; my bicycle and I, we were inseparable. Rain or shine, dusk or dawn, you would see us, seemingly flying with the whir of my Reeboked feet working the pedals in furious abandon.
The neighborhood that was our conquest was a beautiful haven then; the undulating profile of the flanking hills would inspire one to imagine the silhouette of a green, sleeping giant from a distance, comfortably blanketed with silvery, shimmering mists valiantly clinging onto the last remnants of dawn.
But as years went by, we stood a gradual witness to a dreaded catastrophe that has befallen many other hills before – human progress. My giant merely became a sharp, terraced stairway to nowhere, only to be dotted with ugly, square, white boxes. You could even see the black spikes of communication towers jabbing offensively into the sky.
Oh how we hate the view now. Everything suddenly became too warm for our joyous excursions. The sun became too harsh and the pale green skin of the new monster did nothing to soften the glare of an angry sunset.
I found myself avoiding my bicycle more and more, and ultimately it became a mere decoration on my garage wall.
So I lost not one, but two things that gave me joy before; my bicycle, and also my old sleeping giant friend of an almost prehistoric past….

I used to play with my joy stick, but now I don't have any games that work with my joy stick. And there's nothing worse than sitting alone at home playing with a gameless joy stick.

I used to spend hours interior the communities I had joined, yet all of them began to die because of the fact all human beings became going to facebook and now myspace does not even have communities anymore. dissimilar the funniest human beings i've got ever met have been on myspace.

I had a flea market booth for 3 1/2 years. I loved buying and selling old junk, but now it's like an old toy I have outgrown--just fond memories.

Frankly, my cast albums of Stephen Sondheim musicals. I used to play them all the time in my teens, 20s, and 30s.
Now, though I still admire his writing, I've moved on to other theatre composers.

A good rainstorm. It is way to dry here in Hawaii. I love a good rain as it cools everything off, and keeps us a little safer from fire. We have already had 2 big fires, help, we need rain.

Material things. I use to think I needed them, now I don't really care. I found that family , friends, and love are worth much more.
