Every time I call to ask a question about my Chase credit card, I end up speaking to someone I do not understand and they do not understand me!!! I mean no offense but I mean I did not even get my issue resolved because I got soooo frustrated. I know these people will work for less money, but it's just not fair!!!!

Any time I call a customer support line. If the first person who comes on can barely speak english, I hang up and keep calling until I get an actual american who can understand me. Foreingers who do those jobs usually suck at them anyways. They go to specific "by the book" to try to help you. make you do stupid things that you know aren't the problem, but they are protocol so the damn phillipino or Indian make you do it first.

Much of such phone work is OUTsourced - Read that as OffShore. To keep costs down for basic customer service... The financial and merchandising function is mostly all moving figures about - Then they download the "hopper" and just-in-time-direct-produce & ship your item. AND, after all; if its a collection agency - Do they really want you to be able to reach the !*!#% physically? They're just meeting the requirements of law: They contacted you on X date and got no CoOperation in regards to the _ matter, Etc., ad nauseum. Then when other measures are used; they've complied w/ #. Not Fair - but LEGAL

BarB (above) is correct. You're usually dealing with an overseas call center because its much more cost effective to outsource the customer service to foreign companies than to pay domestic rates to keep it in-house.

Such is the nature of capitalism. Companies do what saves them money.

Most company call centers have outsourced their call-in business overseas to countries like India, the Philipines, El Salvador, Mexico City, etc.

The U.S. employees have all been laid off.......you will be dealing with someone in a foreign country.

It may not be fair but it is reality.....and, the American people don't say a thing..just like sheep, they take it.

You are not rich enough to rate improved customer service. Trust me, if you have millions on deposit, your call will not get routed to Mumbai. As to why companies are doing this, it's simply - money. Those people are willing to work not just for peanuts, but for peanut shells.

Probably because it's a sh*tty job, so the company will take who they can get, since the turn around is so high anyway, it probably isn't worth their while to screen applicants for communication skills very carefully. Immigrants will take it cause it pays well.

They outsource the customer service jobs to other countries where the labor is dirt cheap.
