Every month 1 out of every 1,500 U.S. troops over In Iraq comes home with 1 or more less limbs than they went over there with. That's a big risk to pay to play policeman for Iraq in the middle of their civil war.

You're kidding, right?

In WWII, we were attacked by the Empire of Japan.

Iraq did nothing to us. The war is illegal. Our soldiers are being killed for no reason other than Bushie boys lust for the oilfields.

Young people have no intention of signing up just to get their butts shot of in a war that should never have taken place and which cannot be won....nor is there a strategy, nor a visible end to it. Young people are smarter than that.

Bush is a maniac........

Some are, some aren't. having just separated from the Service, I met many people who joined after Iraq because they wanted to serve. But so what if they are purposely avoiding it, who wants to go to war and possibly get killed? not many. This is not a criticism, it is a legitimate concern that people have. But there are still great things about the service. http://www.dryflypolitics.com

Because there was a clear and present danger of invasion from Japan. There is no terrorist nation, or even a significant number of terrorists capable of invading the US. Plus the press in WWII was not free - it spewed propaganda to an extent that even today's media would be ashamed of.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING ME !!! Since "we" arent involved in the fiasco "there" we have NO investment in it. My nephew is there in Bagdad, as we speak, and has been "back door drafted" and I was in Viet Nam, a better question would be...Why are the same families giving of themselves, so the same families can prosper while we do?
Another possibility might be that we are producing more mepublicans

Because there is a campaign from the democrats to demoralize our military. This is useful for their political gains only. They have no regard for the real world and the enemy that the USA faces.

there are many upsides to military service, but bush has made a mockery of the military's use. i'll go, if he goes first. and you know that won't happen. he does like that flight jacket that clinton left him.
