It's hard to say without you supplying more info about your printer...

Is it a horizontal line or a vertical line?

My first guess is that there's some crud either on the cartridge holder or in the paper path that is smudging all colors together and rubbing on the paper as it goes through.

If it happened *immediately* after changing an ink cartridge, then the cartridge certainly seems to be the culprit. Nearly all cartridge manufacturers, even the refurb ones, provide a warranty. Try a new factory-original cartridge and in the meantime get a replacement for the cartridge that you have.

Note: it *does* seem odd that a faulty cartridge might cause this, unless it is a laser toner cartridge (common problem). Nevertheless, following my advice should let you know if it is the cartridge or some other problem.

Take the cartridge(s) out of the machine turn the machine off for about 2-3 minutes.Shake each cartridge for about 1-2 minutes.Plug the printer and turn the machine back on and re-install the cartridge(s) back into the machine and that should take care of the problem for you.
