mfitz67 (below) Great bait and switch. Does that actually work in neo-con only conversations? Battles are not the overall war strategy. Maybe in neo-land it is...

The soldiers did everything right. Bush and Rummy planned everything wrong.

He takes the blame for nothing. All of his screw ups are someone else's fault.

We have two seperate issues. One was the 'war' part of the war. The 'war' was a classic textbook example of a modern first world military dealing with a poorly led, second rate, third world army of conscripts. Like the proverbale hot knife through butter, American forces drove over, through or around any and all resistance. Classic! The second part of the equation was what to do with a defeated third world country composed of many factions that had been held together only by the force of an entrenched thugocracy. The Bush administration had no clue and unfortunately they still don't. Shock and awe soon became shuck and jive as the Bush people tried to explain away the muddle they had created. Like a dog chasing a car, once caught, the dog has no idea what to do with the prize. In the end I'm sure the administration will blame the 'liberals', but history will blame the people who got us into this mess....George Bush and his merry men!

They are right now!!

By saying that they are changing course because Iraq hasn't met U.S.imposed benchmarks!!

I hope a few of those 'benchmarks' include the one's that the White House wrote in requiring Iraq to open it's oil industry up to a bidding system for future development in Iraq!!

Shouldn't Iraq be left to decide for themselves whether they want THEIR oil and natural resources Nationalized or open to foreign interests????

How can anyone NOT see that this was totally about controlling the future of Iraq's oil?

They should be required to bid for their own oil in their own country???

Umm last time I checked our soldiers won every single battle they engaged in.....

LOL Bait and Switch??? Tell me what's more important to a war strategy than winning battles genius???? So then you admit the troops are winning but somehow in your delusional mind the war strategy is failing????

Good loaded question!

If he can't manage to lay some of the blame on the Democrats, then, yes, the Iraqis would be as good as anyone. Perhaps Iran could be blamed, as well. Ideally, though, he will continue to try to dangle the hope of victory and keep things struggling along there until he leaves office, that way the defeat will be on a Democrat's watch.
