For a few months, my computer has been getting slower and slower. I'm wondering if the commit charge has anything to do with it being slow? When you push CTRL+ALT+DELETE and bring up the task manager, at the bottom right it has a commit charge. Now mine is 259112k / 759960k at the moment. Now should it be higher, like 525000 / 759960k? If it is, I would need to know how to raise that commit charge to what it should be. Thanks for reading and helping!

Check you startup folder for any programs that automatically run on booting, and take those unneeded out. Start->Programs->Startup.

Think about adding some more physical Ram to your system, the prices right now are very good.

There are many things that can cause a computer to slow down. Hard disc filling up, not enough RAM, too much demand on the graphics card, having to use virtual files, viruses, running too many programs at the same time, having one of Bill's latest OS's that's just asking too much from your system etc. Best thing to do is check for viruses then get a memory upgrade, they're cheap and they always give at least some improvement.

Logically your computer cannot be getting slower and slower otherwise it would not now be working.

So you have opened Task Manager and looked at the processes. Which process is draining your PC of its resources?

That is the important thing, not the commit charge.

Nope - the lower your use of the commit charge, the better your system should be performing. If the 759960k number was higher, it would mean you have some sort of increased performance due to RAM or Virtual memory increase
