It's being built right now. If you watch the YES Network, they frequently show the stadium being built, and even though it's far from complete, you can see it slowly taking shape.
The New Yankee Stadium will open in April 2009, and it will be called Yankee Stadium, not a corporate name like McAfee, Comerica, U.S. Cellular, AT & T, Citizens Bank, Petco, PNC, or Chase Field. I am sick of hearing people criticize the Yankees for having a new stadium. The place is over 80 years old and many teams have had several stadiums since then. Most teams in baseball have had new stadiums built since 1991, so why not the Yankees? I can't wait! It's going to be exciting. Yankee Stadium will be missed, but life is all about change.

It is scheduled to be completed in time for the start of the 2009 season. However, with the weather in New York and construction delalys we shall see. The team that Yankees put on the field for the new stadium should be very interesting.

The Yanks will start the 2009 season in their new stadium. They will play throughout 2008 in the current stadium and even host the All-Star game there next year.

It is being constructed across from the old Yankee Stadium as we speak in time for the 2009 season.
The design will be similar to the original Yankee Stadium.

It will be open for the 2009 season and that is why they have the allstar game next year the last one that will played at the Yankee Staduim ..one of the 3 most treasured staduims that are still in use
