Earned the nickname "Mr. November" in the 2001 World Series. Game 4 of this World Series marked the first time in Major League history when a homerun was scored in November. (Due to 9/11, the baseball season was pushed back). Jeter hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Yankees a 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks

The 2001 postseason was held a week later than usual due to the unpleasantness of that September. Thus, the last three games (5, 6, 7) of the World Series were played in November, as well as the ending of Game 4, which occurred just after midnight on 31-October. Jeter homered in the bottom of the tenth to win that game and tie the Series at two games apiece. Since he had the first big play ever in November, and he plays for the same team Reggie "Mr. October" did when he earned his nickname, he was, half-jokingly, named "Mr. November".
