Men! Why when you guys get older... you love to wear short pants, BLACK dress socks, and tennis shoes...IN PUBLIC. Why the black dress socks? Why do you wear this combination when you get older? WHY!? WHY!? WHY!?

After working in a business environment where you need to wear dress socks for many years they no longer have white socks.

As men get older they probably get more job opportunities where they have to dress professional or business casual. That means they have to wear black socks Mon-Fri when they go to work. So there is a good chance they when they are older they will have many pairs of black socks and wear them often. For the short pants thats easy. As people get older they gain weight around the stomach area, now if you wear the same pants that you wore when you were lighter its going to be a little short. Tennis shoes are comfortable and does not require maintenance. Until dress shoes they don't need polishing or need to be clean all the time. Imagine some wearing dirty dress shoes. Now imagine someone wearing dirty tennis shoes, the tennis shoes dont matter if they are dirty or clean.

Black Socks: My work involves a uniform, and the uniform requirement for socks is black. Dress socks? Not really -- I prefer wool light hiking socks. I'm on my feet a lot; the hiking socks are more comfortable.
Shorts: Me? I have always disliked shorts. I am more of the straight-leg Levis type. (off-duty, that is.)
Tennis/running shoes, because they are more comfortable. And yes, low-maintenance. (I hate polishing shoes!)
Age? I'm old enough to know better. (Younger than my hair; older than my teeth!) I dress for *my* comfort, not anyone else's.

Well, Im a foreigner living in a tropical country and I see this all the time with other foreigners living or visiting here. I wear the shorts because they are comfortable, but Id never dream of wearing black socks!

Agree on the subject of the magazines and ladies questioning there is a few Prince perfect who makes tens of millions and could sweep her off her ft.
