I have a Dell Dimension E521. I also Have itunes. Can I burn a Cd with this or do I have to buy a CD burner. Thanks for any help you can give

Your computer is capable but your optical drive needs to have wording on the face of the drawer something like "rewritable", "CD-R", "DVD-R" or three numbers similar to "52x24x16". If you have a CD drive with something like that on it, then you can burn music disks.

If you have just "compact disk" or "52x" then you'll need to replace that drive with a burner or add a second drive that is a burner.

A cd burner is hardware. ITunes is software. As long as you have the hardware capability of writing a cd, then you can use ITunes playlist to choose the music to burn to cd.

You definitely need a CD burner in order to burn CD's. The reader does not have the proper parts inside in order to transfer data to the CD.

if its a stock e521 that you might've picked up at say wal-mart it should at least be a combo cd-rw/dvd-rom (based on what i see for that model at the dell outlet store), so you should have no problems burning with that system as-is
