The Presdential directive twined with the Homeland security directive 51 - are the legal framework for such a move where Bush would end up in charge of all three levels of goverment and it would be run through the Homeland security's secratary

There will be another 9-11 style attack within 6 months of the presidential elections, it will be blamed on IRAN to justify war with them.
They will suspend the constitution, suspend the elections and congress will have no say in the matter!

i do not know if you were aware of this, but Jeb Bush declared martial law in the state of florida on 7-7-2001!

Just 4 days before 9-11.

Why would he do that? There was no threat from a hurricane or other natural disaster in the forseeable future at the time this was done!

Actually I have been asking the same question. It is the only thing he hasn't done yet. I think he might try something like that before he and Cheney go out with an impeachment or maybe to hold the office longer. People don't seem to realize the signs are all pointing to this and this administration has become so brazen with their lies and deceit. FEMA in charge could be a very scary thing indeed. I didn't know it until the other day but if this scenario ever takes place FEMA doesn't even have to go by the constitution of the US. They can pretty much do what they want. Republicans need to think long and hard about this matter.

Don’t believe that will happen unless a real candidate comes on to win the election..... Corporate control makes that highly unlikely, almost impossible.

As long as a corporate whore takes the next corporate election we will continue to slide into fascism....... no need for a freefall (martial law) into fascism...because the corporations will not lose in 2008.

I proudly broke from that corporate mind control device (their media/their game) about ten years ago. Better to fight back against a monstrous undefeatable enemy than to conspire with the totalitarians as one of their drones.

I welcome the declaration of martial law. That would mean the corporations have become afraid of the people and are desperate to maintain power.

We're not close to that yet. Look at the attacks by liberals, by liberals, by liberals, on Cindy Sheehan and Ralph Nader. They've got us attacking our own and defending corporate whores. When the news comes out that Obama is an illegitimate president and he is impeached. The rioting will ensue on a massive scale. The federal government will call out the troops to quell it. I don't know about FEMA camps but I have read the ads for internment specialists. I guess some people will have jobs. I only hope we won't be like the Germans saying. "I vuz only following orders!"

the potential for panic and overreaction to a 9-11 type disaster is very real. if timed to coincide with a sentimental or national observance the roar for revenge would be overwhelming. events would occur which have no connection to very real concerns. as a people we would be swept along by our own ignorance and prejudice. our leadership, that has only recently been showing some ability to address security concerns by other than military means, would revert to "shoot first, ask questions later".

Just before the elections Bush will go to war with Iran and use it as an excuse to activate his Homeland security directive ( Martial Law) then he will post pone the elections effectively keeping himself in power indefinitely.

That's my theory.

It is something I have been concerned over for quite awhile now!!

I truly wonder what the citizens of the U.S. would do if they tried this!?!?!

It's like standing in front of a positioned Python and waiting for it to bite you!!

I really can't believe that we have allowed our government to have this kind of power over us!!

Although it would be easy to agree with you in spirit, I believe that is the last thing we have to worry about. I know they seem like dictators, but we haven't devolved that far just yet.
