There's everything from "Parallel Universe" fics that have the story of Harry Potter if Voldemort never killed Lily and James, to "Time Turner" fics with Harry going back in time to meet his parents.
There are "Founders Fics" about Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin and Rowena Ravenclaw. There are "Marauders Fics" about Harry's father and his friends. There are fics long enough to be real books, and ones that are short and sweet. There are even fics that only use the magical rules of the HP world, with completely different settings and characters and conflicts.

no. i suppose when you've got magic there have got to be one more identify for a "larger being" and theres most often a phrase for wherein the magic comes from. rationale in the event that they recognise its technology no longer magic. plus there fictional charectors they can not suppose in whatever until jk rowling says they do!
