Jethro Tull's three A-grade albums are, IMO:
Thick As A Brick, Minstrel In The Gallery and Heavy Horses.

I love Thick as a Brick. The whole album just flows so beautifully. It's simply an extended emotional expression in song form; a 43-minute song, and an excellent one at that. Wonderful album: should be experienced by all. When my friends ask me to introduce them to new music, that's often one of my first suggestions; and coming from someone with about 10,000 songs (almost 1,500 albums), that's a high recommendation indeed.
This is rock, by the way. Progressive rock, to be exact. Prog folk, to be overprecise.

Favorite album: Heavy Horses, It falls right in the middle of their best period (Songs From The Wood, Heavy Horses, Live-Bursting Out and Stormwatch).
Favorite Song: Budapest. It shows a real maturity in terms of Ian Anderson's songwriting skills.

My favorite is their very first. I think the title was "This Was" or "Time Was" or something similar. I liked it because it was an interesting fusion of rock and jazz with a little blues thrown in. That was probably my introduction to "fusion". Fusion was my entrance into the world of jazz.
