The Pyramids were Egypt's national project of that time.
According to the most accepted theories... it was built by an Egyptian work force not by slave as some like to falsly claim. The living quarters and tombs of the workers were recently found close to the pyramids area which indicates that those people were honoured and given a final resting place beside their beloved king...

The Pyramid itself is an architectural masterpiece demonstrating the Mathematical, astronomical and engineering skills of the builders... they are accurately oriented towards the four cardinal directions, and its shape is as perfect as it can be.

Many types of stone were used granite quarry in Aswan, basalt from the oasis, and white fine limestone from Tura. They were transported via rafts on the Nile through a Canal specialy dug to a point close to the building site... Blocks were then carved and placed in place using cylidrical woden logs and muscle power to push them in location over sand ramps.

The core of the pyramid is rougher than the outer covering which was finished with white limestone. The stones are positioned in such a way that not even a shaving blade can be put in between.

The inside of the pyramid contains only two funerary chambers, what is called the king's and queen's chambers connected by a few passages... there are also a number of ducts whose function is not exactly known.

For more info you can check the web site of Dr. Zahi Hawass linked below.

For get a life: True Hebrews were slaves in Egypt... but according to the bible they were used to make mud bricks for common houses... they didn't even build the houses... Building the pyramids was an honour that I believe would have been denied to common slaves... Why would anyone let dirty slaves build the resting place of their living god when you have thousands of adoring citizen who were willing to die for that honour... the love of the workers is reflected in the greatness of the structure... and its defiance of time... No can't be the work of compulsed slaves.

The biggest part of the secret which is how they fix the stones without any material between is still unknown. There are theories about how they transferred the large stones and how they left it to up, but the truth is all of these are just theories that I don't think it's sure. Part of it might be true, but it's not yet sure.

When some ignorants are frustrated to know they write in their books it was built by aliens. Also haters of Egypt always say it was built by slaves which is also not true.

Edit : Yes it's Giza not Gaza .. unless you mean Gaza you have to ask again then.

The pyramids are usually built by people who worked 24/7. They followed orders by the Pharaoh, they built ramps to work around the area they want to build it. The ancient Egyptians beilved the only way to reach the after life was to build a massive triangle that had many rooms, that contain not only the Pharaoh's body but also his or her family buried as well.

10,000 workers. NOT slaves. They were specialist workers that were looked after and fed very well.
At the sides, sand was piled up in long ramps, but the angle of climb was very slight. Like the hairpin bends on a mountainside road.
