I am about 8 weeks pregnant with my first child. I am not going to have amy first doctor appointmnent for about 2 weeks (insurance reasons). For the last week I have had such morning (all - day) sickness... I can't eat or drink anything. Anytime I try to eat I just throw it up. Today was the first time I was able to eat a little of lunch but I have been so sick from eating I can't get out of bed. Is it ok not to eat at this stage? I have lost about 6 pounds so far. What would you reccomend? The only thing I have been able to drink is Sweet Tea beacause this is the only thing I can keep down and I am not supposed to be drinking sweet tea!! I just feel so sick all the time. What do you think??

I was that same way with my first also. I would take a sip of water and run to the bathroom. I lost 20 lbs with her. It lasted for me until I was almost 5 months then got better. Every pregnancy is different. I was sick with each of my children (7 in all) but each one the doctors worked to find things to help me. By the 7th one I didn't throw up and was able to eat. I was still sick to my stomach but nothing like the first. I loved being pregnant and although I was miserable (as no doubt you are) I made it through and still had more.

You said you have a Dr appt. in two weeks. My advice HANG IN THERE it will get better and it won't effect your baby. The baby gets what they need before your own body. My daughter was 8lbs 2ozs and very healthy as well as the rest of my children.

CONGRATULATIONS and good luck. I hope you enjoy motherhood as much as I do.

Nibbling saltines may help, and also fresh fruit and vegetables are most likely to stay down. Small bites, a little at a time. Try cheese or a spoonful of peanut butter or hummus for protein. Ginger ale or ginger root tea may also help - I drank so much my first pregnancy I actually developed an aversion to it later, but it did help me get through the first few weeks.

If it makes you feel any better, strong morning sickness is a good sign the baby's got a good grip on you and is firmly establishing the pregnancy.

I agree with the others you should see a doctor asap - your regular appointment may not be for 2 weeks, but this is a problem that requires care sooner.

Take care of yourself!

The sweet tea is fine just try to drink decaf. It's probably the electrolytes in the tea that's helping it agree with you. I was just as sick during both of my pregnancies and lost weight too. I'm not sure but it's so early in your pregnancy that I think that you'll be okay. The baby should be okay because when I went through that I was very concerned about my baby's health but my doc assured me that the baby would be fine at that point in pregnancy. I would do a lot of research on-line and in books (often made me feel better) from now until you can see a doctor and maybe even try calling a nurse at your local hospital in Labor and Delivery. They are normally there to answer questions for anyone. God bless.

I am 33 wks and 3 days along.. My whole pregnancy has been nothing but being sick.. Sometimes i have a couple weeks where i feel good. Just make sure you drink lots of water. I just went into early labor yesterday because of dehydration and had to have a shot and IV to stop it. You don't wanna be there... Trust me just drink the water if you can't keep water down go to the emergency room and they will give you medication in an IV to make you hydrated and for the nausea..

See your doctor ASAP. They can prescribe you something for the morning sickness or if it is something more serious they'll handle it right away. I lost wieght in the beginning to but the morning sickness pills helped me a lot. Good luck =)

Remember small snacks and keep yourself hydrated.
