After much searching in Idaho's state statutes, I have found nothing that prohibits the use of radar detectors. I may be looking in the wrong place, but could find no reference under traffic violations, vehicle equipment, crimes and punishments, or miscellaneous. I will post their website should you choose to look yourself.

I am not sure if radar detectors pick up the modern LIDAR guns which use an infrared laser rather than radar to determine your speed. Also, you must know that if your radar detector goes off, you have already been clocked. If you can see their radar, they can see your speed.
