Far, far away, far past the Milky Way, there is a planet inhabited by individual socks. These are the socks that have managed to break through the Earth's atmosphere and escape to another world. They are freed from the enslavement of covering the stinky feet of humans.
The socks who inhabit the Sock Planet live in peace and harmony. There is neither war nor strife, nor hunger nor pain. They have meaningful, fulfilling work, and high quality education is free of charge.
Each sock mates with another sock of similar likes and dislikes. The new couples reproduce and make little pink or blue baby socks, which are then delivered to the Earth in the pouches of the storks that deliver babies to humans.

well, im still a big kid and i watched an epispde of jacob
two-two recently about how socks from the dryer are sucked into a porthole (in the dryer) to an alternate dimension or a paralell universe, where everyone is completely oposite and where the socks are used as MONEY! and there jacob two two must battle the evil jacob two-two to get his socks back. or thats how the episode goes anyways.

Theres a little hole in the dryer that leads to sock world..and all the sock get sucked into it.

but seriously, it is just that they all never made it into the laundry to begin with. They are under beds, stuck in the hamper etc!!!

The other pairs don't like singles . so they get together and shred it and it disapears in to Sock ville..

Someone stole them or you misplaced them and forgot them in the washer or dropped them. They don't dissappear in the dryer.
