The cons are always criticizing EU, Canada, Australia, and other liberal democracies in the world. Where is a good example of what they'd like to accomplish??
A USA without any government programs such as public schools, police, fire, roads, water, sewer, Social Security, and Medicaid would be like where in the world???
If they got their dream, a one party Republican system, what country would the USA start becoming more similar to?

The closest would be the older Socialist Germany. Strong authoritarian hierarchy, strict laws requiring conformity with the party's ideals and standards, very few social programs.

Please don't put words into the mouths of others. No serious conservative wants a single party system, period. Nor do they want to do away with social security, Medicare/Medicaid, public schools, the police or fire departments, public roads, etc. Where do you get these ideas?

What the "Republicans" want (and that covers a wide range of ideologies") is a country that holds its people accountable for their own wellbeing. A country where you work and get paid, not get paid for not working. There is a difference between "social assistance" and "welfare state". The "cons" don't mind a helping hand, they're just tired of mouths that bite the hands that feed them and complain because it took too long to get their free money. And no, that is not an exaggeration.

Canada, the EU and Australia are all democracies...but they are also, to varying degrees, socialist democracies. If you want to pay higher taxes to support a universal healthcare system, or have people "on the dole" who don't want to work, or provide free drugs to addicts who don't work and get a free place to stay and free food, or support those who'd rather sit home and watch TV than work for a living, then move to Canada, the EU or Australia. Australia is probably the closest to us ideologically, and the other two are closer to the socialist side. Don't you think there is a reason why the US's productivity is so much higher than those other areas? It's because, in spite of all the freebies we give out, we still produce more products per capita than the rest of the world (except maybe Japan).

Social Security is going to fall short because the "liberal" part of the govt has been using it to fund their pork barrel programs for decades. Add to that the fact that the number of retirees will outnumber the number of those still working, and you can see where the trouble begins. Privatizing social security shifts the burden of retirement planning from Big Daddy govt to each individual. Social Security was never meant to be a "full retirement", it was supposed to offset the cost of retirement as a suppliment.

The biggest difference, one that I find most frustrating, between the "liberals" and "conservatives" is that the conservatives want "less" govt, while the liberals want "more govt"...yet they say they want the opposite! You can't have social welfare, free medical, etc. without govt organizations managing these programs. Where/when have you ever seen a govt agency manage something better than commercial enterprise? It simply doesn't happen. You want to cut medical costs? Then revise the tort system, get rid of the malpractice attornies with the 1/3-1/2 shares in settlements, which will in turn reduce the malpractice insurance, and the patient will pay less. Why do you think that of all the producers in the country, the average net worth of an attorney is in excess of $300K? What do they produce? Nothing. As Mark Twain once said, "if it wasn't for lawyers, we wouldn't need any."

So, no one party system (we need balance to even the best of intentions), less govt, more personal accountability, less "free stuff" and less "perpetual childhood freebies". If you're going to state what the "cons" want, then state it correctly.

I just need to correct bluebird here, Canada Australia and the EU actually are democracies. In fact Canada, just like the United States, is considered a liberal democracy (the others might be too, I'm not sure, I suspect they are though). We are a democracy because the government is determined by the people under a free election system. Learn your facts before you go preaching please.

As for the actual question, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. If you are talking about finding a one party democracy I don't think it exists. I don't see how a democracy can exist without the voters being able to choose. If you are trying to find a democracy in which a right wing party is currently in power, Canada, France, the UK, and Australia all have a right winged party in power along with the United States. Far as I can tell, conservatives stand for things like religion, family values, business, lower taxes, less government spending, etc... So I suppose they would technically be against the programs you mentioned above, but you have to remember that just because they're conservative doesn't mean this is necessarily their platform. A lot of provincial Progressive Conservatives in Canada where I'm from fall under the term of red Tories, because even though they're conservative they live in a socialist country and believe in socialist values like Medicare and welfare, and even though conservatives are supposed to be against government spending I don't think anyone anywhere has ever run a deficit as high as George W Bush's. Anyways I hope I answered your question.

UK, Canada are socialist governments, not a democracy.
Australia is a Federalist form of government, not democracy.
I think you need to review your history, we are a democracy because the government is determined by the people under a free election system.

No. WE are the great Republic. No one can compare to us. The whole world envies us.

HOWEVER...... you give a good argument for us to get our failed government out of schools, police, fire, roads, Social Security....on & on.
These should all be privitised and be ran by businesses.
Especially Social Security.
