I have to assume you mean more real THAN global warming, since we have been protesting about that for years. You protest about your real thing, I'll protest about mine.

Are there that many people in support of Al-Qaeda that other people need to stage a protest to rally support against it?

As far as Global Warming, what better way to address a global issue than to raise global awareness. Whether you believe the predictions or not, it is an important issue and worth at least the time to become fully aware of the facts and theories on both sides.

As far as other "grass roots" protests -- those are ongoing by every possible political perspective. It's called community action. Find a cause that you believe in and get involved. Or sit back and kibitz about what other people are doing.
