Is there something about being in the military that makes people angry about those who haven't? I was once told that since I didn't serve, I have no opinion. Funny thing to say from people who served to insure the rights I have.

whcwarrior, thanks. I do quite a bit of work for "the greatest generation", when one makes it clear they served, I always thank them for their service. I'm kind of a world war two and Vietnam info junkie. I truly respect what our service people went through in combat, they deserve all the respect due them. Thanks again.

I cannnot speak for everyone else. Serving USN 1983-2003, I was in Desert Storm, Kosovo, and Iraq. Under 3 different presidents. All i can tell you is that it is upsetting when you get back and others who have never served, want to tell you all about the war. It does strike a nerve. I fought for your right to have an opinion, and you are more than welcome to it.

Most of the Army is just supply and service personal for the Green Zone elite.

The Army has a 17 to 1 ratio of support to combatant. Combine that with the fact that Women are now proforming 94% of the work in Iraq.

With military action turned over to private mercinaries and Fast Food resturants being built on all the bases. The inflamatory retoric is both expected and normal..

Face it the modern Army is a long way from the men that raised the Flag on Mount Sarobachi.

Grrrr

I served 8 years in the Army and I'm pretty happy - usually. I think the Yahoo posters are angry because they can't play their military games on the XBox - due to the piece of crap it turned out to be.

I have not found this to be true. Most veterans I talk with are proud they served and feel they have contributed to the freedoms and rights we all possess.
Perhaps it is you or your attitude toward the military that riles them - or perhaps you are just sensitive to their comments and feel inadequate because you cannot know how it feels to personally defend something so precious as our freedoms.
Of course you have the right to your opinion - and the right to express it - but perhaps you should consider why and thank a veteran instead of implying that they seem angry.

Perhaps they grow weary of hearing ignorant morons make incoherent, inaccurate and oblivious statements about the military. 85% of the time, people have no clue as to what they're talking about are far more critical about something that they have no understanding of. Can't you see how irritating that might be for someone who served in it for many years?

What I always ask, is: "Why don't those who say they support the war, go and enlist, and request to serve in Iraq, so they can prove their support, instead of blabbing their mouths off, and doing nothing, but expecting someone else to put their lives on the line, for their lazy necks?"

There are certian ones on here that question if one has served or not Hell thats their right but when one always calls on the "cons" to serve or step up to the plate then I question their service record. The service is voluntary not political Semper Fi and to the wanna be's look it up!!!

Because they are sick and tired of hearing crap from those that did not serve but seem to have all the answers.

Maybe it's because they see so many people trying to throw away the things they risked their lives to fight for.
