I think they're both dignified, so long as the person who haplessly falls into success can maintain some sort of gracefulness about the situation.

ether way dignity should not be shaken If you try and fail you will know that you put forth the effort and did not prevail but if success falls into your lap the dignified way to handle it would be to validate those who made it possible for you to become successful and to use your success for the benefit of others

DIGNITY: The quality or state of being worthy, honored, or esteemed.
Because of the definition of dignity, I would have to say to try but fail. There is dignity in that. Where is the dignity in having luck just happen without any effort at all? That is luck.

To try and fail, because you put up an . A person would know what to do differently the next time and it is more appreciated when you actually have been through it.

when you haplessly fall into success thru no merit of ur own, u won't be able to maintain the dignity or the success. because its not of ur own doing.
