if you stay in a mini hotel $10-15 a night and go to average vietnamese resturants you can budget yourself for $40 a day per person and have pleanty of money for shopping and traveling even by airplane. shirts can be bought for $6-7 even if you cant or dont bargin. pants around $10 ,walets $1 ladies bags run the gammit from very cheap to very expensive ."benh than" market although not the cheapest way to go das everything & is better than shopping on "rodeo drive" [ dom khoi street and the area around the rex and caravel hotels.] souveniers are best bought on de tham and bui vien streets.

Check out supermarkets. They have things you need and with fixed prices. If you don't like, you'll know the price before bargaining with other shops outside. My experience was that if I buy something cheap, supermarkets (BigC, Coopmart, Maximark, Citimart...) have better deals than Ben Thanh Market. If I need some brands, I shop at Zen Plaza, Diamond Plaza, Parkson Plaza, Saigon Centre. I seldom buy in shops along Dong Khoi Street. Too expensive.

vietnam is the barganing place. The shops will try to charge you 10 times the value of the product. clothing and the type of thing that you are looking for are very inexpensive. You can get a whole wardrobe for under $100. Shop around and compare prices. don't be afraid to walk away from a high price.

i went there is april and it was my first time.
things there are really cheap.
they sell a lot of brands there.
for example, a coach purse is about 20-30.
but when u buy thing, they try to rip you off.
you have to lower the price.
and when i bought these pair of bebe jeans, they were $23 in american money.
it all really depends on what you buy.
